The Eat Drink Blog 3 (EDB3) organising committee is delighted to announce that the fourth Australian Food Bloggers Conference — Eat Drink Blog 4 — will be held in Perth, Western Australia.

Eat Drink Blog 4 follows Eat Drink Blog conferences held in Adelaide (EDB3 in 2012), Sydney (EDB2 in 2011) and Melbourne (EDB1 in 2010).

“We are thrilled that Eat Drink Blog will be hosted by Perth this year,” said Christina from the EDB3 organising committee.

“Eat Drink Blog is the only national food blogging conference in Australia so it’s an important way for Australian food bloggers to network and improve their skills and knowledge,” she said.

“We can’t wait to see what Perth come up with.”

At this stage, Eat Drink Blog 4 will be held in November 2013

The organising committee for Eat Drink Blog 4 will be chaired by Ai-Ling from Food Endeavours of the The Blue Apocalypse. Other confirmed committee members are Matt from Abstract GourmetBri from East Meets West and Chris from Bon Viveur.

“Some people might think Perth is a boring mining state but talk to any Perth food blogger and they will be quick to tell you otherwise and share why they think living in Perth is unique and great,” says Ai-Ling.

“Perth has a growing and vibrant food culture with many new farmers’ markets, street festivals, small bars and restaurants popping up, and an emerging street food scene,” she says.

“We look forward to having bloggers from around Australia visit our state and experience it for themselves. We will also be incorporating a unique WA experience into EDB4 through the food provided and workshops that we plan.”

Each year Eat Drink Blog is managed by a different organising committee from the host state. Last year’s conference was organised by Christina from The Hungry Australian (Co-Chair), Amanda from Lambs Ears and Honey (Co-Chair), Erin from She Cooks She GardensAlex from Eating AdelaideKirsty from The Natural Foodie (Secretary), Natasha from Playing House and Celeste from Travelling in Mary Janes.

The Eat Drink Blog 3 Committee will be handing over to the new EDB4 committee over the next couple of weeks.

Expressions of Interest Open for Eat Drink Blog 4 http://eatdrinkblog.org/expressions-of-interest-open-for-eat-drink-blog-4/ http://eatdrinkblog.org/expressions-of-interest-open-for-eat-drink-blog-4/#comments Mon, 17 Dec 2012 00:18:41 +0000 http://eatdrinkblog.org/?p=1904 The Australian Food Bloggers Conference — Eat Drink Blog — is the major community event organised by and for the Australian food blogging community.

Each year, Eat Drink Blog is managed by a different volunteer organising committee. The Eat Drink Blog 3 organising committee is now looking for a new team to organise Eat Drink Blog 4.

Eat Drink Blog 4 follows on from the three previous conferences:

  • Eat Drink Blog 1, Melbourne, 2010;
  • Eat Drink Blog 2, Sydney, 2011; and
  • Eat Drink Blog 3, Adelaide, 2012.

As this is a national food blogging conference, each state has the opportunity to host Eat Drink Blog. So we are particularly interested in hearing from bloggers from Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Hobart and Darwin.

The format of Eat Drink Blog each year is entirely up to the organising committee. There is no requirement to duplicate what has been done in previous years.

The organising committee is responsible for:

  • Choosing the date of the conference.
  • Organising and managing a venue.
  • Finding and working with speakers and presenters to deliver the conference programme.
  • Securing and managing sponsors (if desired) to provide in-kind or cash support to assist the conference activities. Traditionally, Eat Drink Blog has been completely free to attend as costs have been covered by sponsors. In the past, delegates have only been responsible for their flights, accommodation and personal expenses.
  • Organising refreshments (e.g. breakfast, morning and afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner)
  • Promotion, marketing, PR and social media for the event
  • Creating conference collateral e.g. printed programme, slideshows and venue signage
  • Communication with potential and confirmed conference delegates before, during and after the event.
  • Organising the conference competitions (i.e. food writing and photography), judging panels and prizes (if desired).
  • Organising any other food and wine experiences (if desired).
  • Organising gifts for speakers and bags for delegates (if desired).
  • Documentation of the conference (videos and photographs).

From experience, we recommend no fewer than three people on the organising committee. Organising Eat Drink Blog requires a substantial commitment so sharing the workload is highly recommended.
