Here’s one of the big announcements that you have all been waiting for…. We are thrilled to announce that the keynote speaker at EDB 6 in Canberra will be Matthew Evans!
Matthew Evans is of course a household name and all food circles around Australia. Matthew once trained as a chef and worked as a high profile restaurant critic, then threw it all away to become a smallholder in Tasmania’s peaceful and picturesque Huon Valley. He runs Fat Pig Farm where the namesake pigs free-range on pasture and heritage apples ripen on ancient trees, where he has a small market garden and tries to entice milk from two recalcitrant, dairy cows.
Matthew is the presenter of Gourmet Farmer on SBS, with the fourth series, Gourmet Farmer Afloat, due to air in early 2015. He is also the presenter of What’s the Catch, an eye-opening documentary into the truth behind Australia’s seafood which first aired on SBS in late 2014. Along with the show, he became aconsumer advocate, launching a campaign to change seafood labelling laws so we can all know what we eat.
Matthew is the author of ten books on food, including the authoritative Real Food Companion, and his latest memoir, The Dirty Chef. When he’s not weeding, writing, cooking, agitating or farming, Matthew is going to teach his son to fish.
Eat Drink Blog organising committee would like to offer a big welcome aboard to Matthew and we are so excited to have our delegates be inspired and educated by him.
A HUGE thank you to our Gold sponsor Visit Canberra for being instrumental in bringing Matthew Evans to Eat Drink Blog 6!
