It’s taken a long time to lock everything in but we can finally reveal the details of Eat Drink Blog Pop-Up Dinner on Saturday night 9 November, after the conference at the Perth City Farm courtyard from 7pm-10pm for delegates.

Thanks to the Citibank Dining Program, a great supporter of the food and wine industry, including many great foodie events around Australia, for coming on board as the Eat Drink Blog Pop-Up Dinner Venue Sponsor.

We are excited to present to delegates some of Perth’s best food stalls and food trucks.

Marcelita’s Empanadas

Marcelita’s Empanadas is the culinary love child of Matt & Marcela O’Donohue Valencia, born from a love a great food and a desire to bring something new to the people of Perth. Matt is a blogger turned cook and Marcela is the love of his life.

Marcelita’s serves traditional Colombian Empanadas, they are little pillows of crunchy deliciousness which are gluten free and use high quality ingredients. Their empanadas are made fresh to order with a team of empanadistas hand rolling and shaping the masa (dough), filled with typical Colombian flavours of shredded beef, cumin, smoked paprika, and coriander, and new inventions like pork and lime. They bring a little love in each bite.

Roy is a devoted foodie and took a year to perfect his pasta-like dumpling pastry which uses a mix of five different flours and sources local ingredient for the fillings.

Delish Ice

Delish Ice, headed up by Katie Earl (the Pop Girl), is Perth’s premium ice pop experience with vintage vibes, swingin’ tunes, dishy dames and delicious artisan ice pops served in a classic 1950s caravan.

Bangkok Jump Street

Bangkok Jump Street is new on the Perth food scene, bringing traditional Thai street food with true flavours and hidden textures which are less seen in modern Thai restaurants.

Bangkok Jump Street was created from a group of young multicultural friends, who are full senses of unstoppable creativity and experiment, and invite delegates into their local culture of Thai street food eating with their signature dishes, presented in their own way with dishes like prawn pad thai with crispy wonton skin and Jump Street’s Pork crackling salad.

BJS Pork Belly
Street food would not be complete without a refreshing drink and our sponsor Jax Coco is launching their pure micro-filtered coconut water in Australia and delegates will be one of the first to taste it.

Jax Coco drinks are full of essential electrolytes, low in calories, low in sugar and with zero fat. Inspired by the crisp coconut water that it champions, Jax Coco provides their coconut water in tasteful minimalistic design that makes it an easy go-to drink.

Jax Coco DrinksEat Drink Blog 4 in Perth coincides with WA Beer week and we are thrilled to have Eagle Bay Brewing as our craft beer sponsors giving delegates a taste of our locally brewed beer.

The journey of Eagle Bay Brewing Co. began thanks to third generation farming siblings Nick, Astrid and Adrian d’Espeissis and their love of great food, wine, freshly brewed beer and growing up by the Indian Ocean.

Eagle Bay Brewing Co. houses a microbrewery and restaurant located on the family farm in Eagle Bay, Western Australia. Rainwater is harvested for their beers which are handcrafted and brewed in small batches, and made with only four quality ingredients; rainwater, malted barley, yeast and hops sourced from around the globe to produce full flavoured and freshly brewed beer.

EBBThe weather has been very kind to us and we will be experiencing perfect cider weather for Eat Drink Blog and purveyors of fine Australian beverages Custard & Co are our cider sponsor bringing to delegates their new range (and newly labeled!) ciders for the summer.

Their cider is crafted in Donnybrook, in the beautiful South West using 100% local fruit from their 35 acres of organic orchard. Careful processes are used with everything done by hand to provide the best drink possible with a motto of treating all their products like each other…with a lot of love.

There are minimal preservatives in their ciders with a caustic free brewery, keeping them as natural as possible to give delegates the best tasting cider going around.

We are also proud to have Galafrey Wines, a family-owned business from Mount Baker as our wine sponsor.  All their wines are dry grown, nurtured and bottled on the estate. Established by Ian Tyrer (1946-2003) in 1977, Galafrey has continued to prosper under the management of mother and daughter team, Linda and Kim Tyrer, who maintain a hands-on role to ensure that the Galafrey philosophy lives on. That is to strive for excellence in producing small parcels of distinctive and consistently exceptional wines through commitment to producing fruit of the highest quality which we believe is the key to great winemaking.

Big thanks to all our Eat Drink Blog Pop-Up Dinner sponsors.

We look forward to eating, drinking and snapping with delegates!

We are excited to reveal that the first activity delegates will get to choose from is a fun, interactive pastry cooking class with celebrated French pâtissier, Emmanuel Mollois.

emmanuelmollois_web

Emmanuel was born in France’s Loire Valley and grew up in Vendée. At 15 he wanted to become a cartoonist but his father had better ideas and sent him to his uncle (a food caterer), where Emmanuel’s passion for eating became a passion for cooking.

After completing a cooking apprenticeship, Emmanuel worked his way up through various restaurants in regional France until he decided to move to Paris. After five years working in highly-rated gourmet restaurants specializing in pastry making, he and partner Gordana decided to travel the world. Melbourne, Australia was their first stop and even though Emmanuel couldn’t speak a word of English, he was soon working at La Brasserie, South Yarra followed by The Willows in St Kilda.

After two years he crossed the Nullarbor to try the Perth lifestyle and has never looked back. As head pastry chef at The Loose Box in Mundaring he won numerous awards. In 2000 he created the award-winning Le Paris Brest Patisserie Francaise in Perth’s hills before deciding to move closer to the ocean. From 2003 until 2012 he owned and ran the Choux Café patisserie in Swanbourne — crowned ‘best in the west’ by Perth’s Sunday Times. In 2012, Emmanuel joined with his long-time friend (and owner of The Loose Box) Alain Fabregues to open Bistro des Artistes, an authentic French bistro in Subiaco.

Emmanuel has been a regular TV guest on Poh’s Kitchen and Ready Steady Cook. Lovers of pastries and desserts can master the art of French baking with Emmanuel !

Thanks to UWA Publishing for coming on board and sponsoring a Sunday activity for Eat Drink Blog 4!

There are two more Sunday activities to be announced.

Australian food blogger? Keen to attend Eat Drink Blog 4 in Perth on November 9-10, 2013? Registrations are now open for this year’s Australian Food & Drink Bloggers Conference!

  • This event is entirely FREE to attend. There are no registration or attendance fees.
  • There are 80 seats available.
  • Delegates are responsible for their own flights, accommodation, transfers and expenses.

We have put in place some criteria in order to make this process as fair as possible, so here are the rules:

  • You are an Australian food blogger, that is, either a food blogger living in Australia or an Australian food blogger living abroad.
  • Your blog must be at least twelve (12) months old.
  • You must have published a minimum of 25 posts.
  • You are not a commercial blogger i.e. those blogging only for money or as part of their job, for example, a chef blogging for a restaurant or staff blogging for a brand.
  • We are looking for a cross-section of bloggers covering food, wine, drinks, home cooking, restaurant reviewing, and food discussion.
  • Due to space restrictions there is a strict limit of one person attending per blog.

Complete the online registration form to apply for a place at Eat Drink Blog 4. Registrations close on Monday 2 September at Midnight (ACST) so make sure you apply before then.

Please note that filling in this form does not guarantee you a place due to limited seating. All applicants will receive an email confirming the status of their application by Friday 6 September.

In the Event of Over-Subscription

If Eat Drink Blog 2013 becomes over-subscribed – that is, we receive more registrations than we have places to offer, the Eat Drink Blog 2013 Organising Committee will use our discretion to allot conference places to a selection of blogs representative of the current Australia food blogging sphere. Our criteria for this will include:

• Quality and frequency of posts;

• Demonstrated commitment by the blogger to extending and improving their skills; • Ongoing, active engagement in social media; and

• Support and promotion of fellow food bloggers and the wider food blogging community in general.

Unfortunately oversubscription will mean that some applicants are disappointed. While we regret this outcome, the committee’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

We are excited to announce that Five Senses will be bringing their superb locally roasted coffee to Eat Drink Blog this year. We’ll have a coffee bar set up with a Synesso espresso machine and a killer brew bar for filter coffees that will satisfy the needs of even the most outrageous coffee snobs. They’ll be serving coffee to delegates all day, which we know is going to help with so much information to take in.

Five Senses is a family owned coffee roasting company started in Perth, Western Australia, who are dedicated to sourcing spectacular seasonal coffee from all around the world. They have built up relationships with farmers and cooperatives over the years where they are actively trying to make a difference in the quality of the coffee being grown, and the quality of life of the people growing it.

They have long been at the forefront of the specialty coffee scene in Australia, both in terms of sourcing excellent beans, and also training baristas to excel in their craft. A recent expansion to a roastery and training centre in Melbourne means they’ve got the East and West coast covered with great beans, and great people.

Five Senses will also be presenting an interactive coffee workshop where delegates will get to expand their knowledge of coffee, learning about cutting edge brewing techniques to get the most out of high quality beans.

Thanks to Fives Senses for coming on board and sponsoring coffee for Eat Drink Blog 4 !
